Frequently Asked Questions
Cosmetology
Q. Can I really make money?
A. Yes, the expected salary of our cosmetology graduates is $25,000 to $35,000 in the first year.
Q. How long is the program?
A. The program will take approximately 56 weeks to complete. That’s about 12 ½ months, full time.
Q. Do you have any part time programs?
A. Not for cosmetology because the students felt that being at The Academy for two years was too long of a program. So that is why we only offer the full time program every 9 weeks.
Q. Can I take any time off while in school?
A. Yes, but we don’t recommend it. We do have an incentive program for students who maintain their 85% attendance and GPA and you get to take an entire week off half way through the program.
Q. How do I fill out my FAFSA?
A. You can go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and use our school code 041577, or you can do a paper version which we have a few of in the building.
Q. Can I change my schedule after foundations?
A. You have two options to choose from. Both are nice because you are still able to work every other weekend if you need to.
Q. How many nights do I have to be in school?
A. The schedules are designed to allow you to be in the school for two nights a week. This way you have a good idea of what that time is like while in an actual salon.
Q. When I graduate from school what does my license cover?
A. With a cosmetology license you are actually licensed to do hair, nails, and skin care.
